Destination Earth: Atos and ESA Join Forces to Revolutionize Environmental Monitoring

Destination Earth Atos and ESA Join Forces to Revolutionize Environmental Monitoring
Destination Earth ESA Chooses Atos for Key Expansion
  • ‘Destination Earth’ is another landmark achievement for Atos as it collaborates with ESA with respect to the extension of its services platform.
  • In this context, the aim is to improve Earth observation systems enabling the monitoring and management of the Earth’s environments.
  • The initiative is expected to augment the ESA’s Goal of promoting Sustainability with the use of technology.

Atos’ partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the project “Destination Earth” initiative reflects the commitment of the parties to seek technological solutions for global environmental problems. Thanks to this collaboration and the implementation of more sophisticated digital services and cloud technologies, it is planned to build an information system that will be able to handle huge data sets necessary for studying the effects of climate change and other ecological issues.

Raoul Roth, CEO France, Atos, commented:

“We are honored that ESA places its trust in our Group. It is a testament to our expertise and long-standing commitment to helping organizations across Europe deliver services with high value-added technologies and a lasting impact on the future of our planet.”

This partnership will not only serve to enhance the ESA’s capabilities but it will also enable Atos to provide solutions to current environmental challenges that will address them in the right way.

The main aim of the “Destination Earth” project is to implement an all-encompassing digital framework, which reconciles all available information resources to present a holistic overview of the planet. This will allow scientists and political decision-makers to make the right choice backed with accurate timely information, thus maneuvering activities to a sustainable direction. The system will embrace state-of-the-art analysis and Artificial Intelligence to make sense of data as it comes so that changes required for betterment of the environment are not delayed.

In this context, Atos’ specialization of the relatively new cloud computing and of new digital transformation itself is significant to the implementation of this initiative. The combination of cloud-based technologies will enable the provision of robust and scalable delivery systems that will cater to changing data requirements for the ESA. It is this relevance to ESA’s strategy that also gives Atos confidence in environmental protection and technological progress.

In this way, the Atos and ESA relation developed under the Destination Earth program represents a constructive attitude towards the environmental problems in a technological way. Both organizations hope that by extending the boundaries of the services platform, they are contributing to building a better world. In the era where the society is undergoing and experiencing many environmental risks, partnerships such as these will play an important role in using technology to change the environment for the better.
