LONDON, England – 8th October 2024 – Vodafone and Google made headlines as they elevated their existing partnership by entering into a strategic 10-year contract that will significantly increase Sales and Marketing for AI Assistance and supporting devices and cloud-based solutions to millions of customers in the European and African markets.
This collaboration is said to Introduce Google’s advanced generative AI, powered by Gemini models, to Vodafone’s 5G Network.
The contract will also aim at building the Vodafone customer experience through AI services for example, better utilization of content libraries on Vodafone TV, improvements in content discovery, and many other enhancements created by Google Cloud AI for Vodafone.
Also, it is expected that Vodafone will also sell millions of consumers Google Pixel devices with AI features. Margherita Della Valle, the chief executive of Vodafone Group defined the importance of the collaboration:
Together, Vodafone and Google will put new AI-powered content and devices into the hands of millions of more consumers. Using these services, our customers can discover new ways to learn, create, and communicate, as well as consume TV, on a scale we haven’t seen before.”
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet stated
“Our expanded partnership with Vodafone will help bring our most advanced AI products and services, including our Gemini models, to more people across Europe and Africa,”
Pichai further Added “I’m excited to see how Vodafone’s consumers, small businesses, and governments, will use generative AI and Google Cloud to transform the way they work and access information.”
The partnership will also bring enhanced cybersecurity measures, with Vodafone developing a cloud-native security service for business customers using Google Cloud’s Security Operations platform. Further innovations are expected to roll out in the coming years, including AI-based advertising and new cloud services.
