October 8, 2024 – New York-IBM has Launched its Granite 13b.large language model (LLM) which is the latest large model of AI developed by IBM and made available through the SAP Generative AI Hub. This is a huge milestone for SAP users as it will help in boosting business productivity.
This integration enables an enterprise to utilize IBM’s AI models in SAP’s Business Technology Platform (BTP) facilitating quick and simple automation of functions such as Q&A, summarizing, and classifying using SAP domain data.
Granite 13b.chat, on the other hand, proposes to improve and enhance enterprise processes within areas of finance, human capital management, and supply chain management.

Remarked Granger John, Senior Vice President at IBM Consulting. He put forward the effectiveness and openness of the model, over which IBM’s extensive skills in SAP consulting support.
The release coincides with research of IBM’s Institute for Business Value which indicates that 56% of executives are atunnel of funds thrifting to activites that AI targeting SAP software.
These Granite models are lightweight, cost-efficient and therefore best suited for generative tasks including interacting with ERP systems and covering the core activities of the latter.
The partnership with SAP is a continuation of the two companies’ arrangements announced in May, which sought to include IBM Watson AI in SAP solutions.
In all, 25 AI-powered solutions have so far been introduced, featuring IBM Intelligent Invoice Match and IBM Intelligent Warranty Processing, all based on the capabilities of Granite.
As IBM and SAP immerse themselves further into their partnerships, it is expected that the combination of Granite AI and enterprise functions will be brought about for such businesses in a quicker, clearer, and more effective manner than before.
