Nokia Expands MXIE Platform For Improved Worker Safety

Espoo, Finland – 9th October 2024 – Nokia has expanded its MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) platform with six new applications designed to enhance safety, security and efficiency in industry 4.0 settings.

These AI-powered apps aim to meet the rising demands of Industry 4.0 stakeholders, including real-time monitoring, secure communications, situational awareness and advanced security for OT environments.

Technology leader Nokia has released six new applications on its MX Industrial Edge platform aimed at improving operational efficiency, worker safety, and security in a variety of industries, including chemicals, manufacturing, mining, and ports.

These “as-a-service” apps will enhance the security and situational awareness of workers, seeking to address the increasing expectations of Industry 4.0.

The new applications joining Nokia’s portfolio include: OneLayer, Redinent, Ascom Ofelia, Fogsphere, innovaphone PBX & myApps and Nokia Real-time eXtended Reality Multimedia (RXRM).

OneLayer and Redinent bolster security for OT environments by identifying, managing and securing IIoT devices and offering vulnerability management for managed zero-touch security approaches.

Ascom Ofelia and Fogsphere® offer unified alarm systems using real-time data and multi-modal artificial intelligence (AI) for vehicle tracking, PPE compliance, emergency management, intrusion detection and more, with the goal of improving workplace safety.

Innovaphone PBX & myApps and Nokia’s Real-time eXtended Reality Multimedia (RXRM) aim to boost worker productivity, offering secure communications, immersive 360° video for remote assistance and 3D OZO audio capture.

VP of CNS Enterprise Campus Edge Solutions at Nokia, Stephan Litjens, emphasized that businesses must work towards worker safety. He added,
