IBM Strengthens AI and Quantum Data Security with Guardium Release

October 22, 2024, Armonk, NY- IBM officially unveiled the Guardium Data Security Center as a key step towards securing heterogeneous cloud systems. With help from a range of technologies– including generative AI and quantum-safe ones – the platform seeks to address and counteract changes in the overall digital picture and threats.

Such IBM All-in-one Data Protection solution becomes relevant in an age where industries such as finance and telecommunications are integrating AI and facing potential threats from quantum computers.

In the IBM Guardium Security Data Center, organizations can use IBM Guardium AI Security to help them manage and supervise AI models, which guarantees compliance with data governance standards and spot issues with AI models.

Such AI models are becoming unauthorized AI models or “shadow AI”. This tool improves the monitoring of AI deployment. It also works with IBM Watsonx seamlessly, opening up more comprehension of AI and AI ecosystem to organizations.

IBM Guardium Quantum Safe deals with the anticipated future threats of quantum computing. It provides organizations with the means to protect against bad actors having access to quantum computers that are currently relevant to cryptography by protecting data in encrypted form.

In other words, through the integration of all encryption management and regulation policies into one single platform, IBM designed a comprehensive framework to secure data.

“Generative AI and quantum computing provide immense opportunities, but they also bring new risks,”

Says Akiba Saeedi, Vice President, of IBM Security Product Management.

“During this transformative time, organizations need to improve their crypto-agility and carefully monitor their AI models, training data, and usage. IBM Guardium Data Security Center – with its AI Security, Quantum-Safe, and other integrated capabilities – provides comprehensive risk visibility.”

The platform not only addresses the current security issues but also ensures that organizations are protected from possible future challenges.

IBM’s recent launch seeks to emphasize the growing importance of crypto-agility and effective AI governance as industries try to deal with rapid technological change.

As threats develop, additional advancements and improvements to the platform are already being prepared.
