New AI-Powered Imaging Collaboration Announced by GE HealthCare and RadNet

GE HealthCare and RadNet Forge Collaboration to Transform Imaging Systems and Accelerate the Adoption of Artificial Intelligence

CHICAGO, November 11, 2024 – GE HealthCare has partnered with RadNet’s DeepHealth to accelerate AI development in breast cancer imaging, marking a significant advancement in the field.

The partnership will unite RadNet’s SmartMammo system with GE HealthCare’s imaging technologies to enhance diagnostic efficiency and quality for primary radiology practices.

SmartMammo prioritizes cases with suspicious findings and lesion detection AI technology to enhance the breast cancer screening process and seamlessly integrate with existing imaging workflows.

For instance, Kees Wesdorp, RadNet Digital Health President and CEO, says:

“Our objective in combining DeepHealth’s AI capabilities with GE HealthCare’s imaging solutions is to improve the efficiency of radiology processes and benefits to patients in the wider context.”

Its cloud-based architecture also facilitates efficient interaction with the healthcare IT environment making it easy for radiologists to request prompt AI-dependent interpretations.

In the beginning, GE HealthCare focused on extending the reach of SmartMammo to imaging providers in the United States. Roland Rott, CEO of Imaging at GE HealthCare, stated,

“In this partnership, we emphasize AI mess does not only enhances breast imaging but the complete engineered purpose of breast care.”

Diagnostic imaging is very much the goal of this partnership, but AI applications are planned for other areas of imaging in the future as well in order to improve the performance of health systems. We can expect a high level of AI-enabled imaging solutions at providers in every corner of the US.
