SEOUL, Dec. 3, 2024 – Level 3 Cybersecurity Management Systems (CSMS) certification from TÜV Rheinland leaves little doubt that LG Electronics (LG) is one of the top players in automotive cyber security. The certificate, highest of its kind under the present standards, proves that LG has a really holistic approach to security for its automotive products throughout the development, manufacturing, and application stages.
This accomplishment speaks to the adherence of these two international standards, the ISO/SAE 21434 and the UN R155 regulation, which are mandatory for automakers in 56 countries. The two-pronged evaluation process involved simulated cyberattacks to find vulnerabilities in the organization’s systems and get it from Level 2 to Level 3 certification.
Following this practice, LG has included the Automotive SPICE® (ASPICE) framework, which has been acknowledged for systematically enhancing software processes. A firm implementation of ASPICE for Cybersecurity within the company makes the IT security of LG even stronger against emerging cyberthreats. Most notably, LG’s acquisition of Cybellum in 2021 has improved its capacity to counter increasingly sophisticated threats in the mobility sector.
As the automotive industry continues its future toward software-defined vehicles, LG makes timely moves to provide safer and more reliable mobility solutions that will further strengthen its role as a trusted partner in the automotive sector.
“LG is at the forefront of employing cutting-edge security technologies and processes to deliver safer and more reliable solutions for automakers and end users,” said Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle Solution Company.
“We will continue to refine our security systems to stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated cyberthreats targeting the mobility sector.”
