Querétaro, Mexico, Dec. 5, 2024 – The 41st official global cloud region, inaugurated by Google Cloud in Querétaro, has been momentous for digital transformation in Mexico and Latin America. The opening is the third for Google Cloud in the region, alongside São Paulo and Santiago, and it promises to spur innovation, create jobs, and add more than $11 billion to Mexico’s GDP by 2030.
Comprising fast speeds, low-latency connectivity, secure data residence, and scalable infrastructure, the Querétaro region empowers organizations to optimize operations and speed up their growth.
Some key customers, including Prosa and Auditoria Superior de la Federación, have already found the value of any such regional offer to improve digital services and public accountability.
Prosa CEO Salvador Espinosa highlighted the region’s role, “At Prosa, we have been undergoing a transformation process for the past three years that involves adopting technology and developing digital skills within our teams. The partnership with Google has been key to carrying out projects, evolving towards digital business models, enabling the ecosystem, promoting the API-ification of services, and improving data analysis.”
The central elements for this new region will be the sustainability initiatives of Google Cloud, as the company strives to function on 24/7 carbon-free energy by 2030. In addition, Google Cloud pledged to train one million Mexicans in AI and cloud technologies so that local talent could benefit from the wealth of the growing digital economy.
“The new Google cloud region in Mexico will be key to build a digital government accountable to citizens, deepening our path to digital transformation,” said Emilio Barriga Delgado, Special Auditor of Federalized Expenditure, Auditoria Superior de la Federación
“Since 2018, the Auditoria Superior de la Federación (ASF) has pioneered digital transformation in Mexico, promoting innovation and the responsible use of technology, while using advanced technologies like Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, among other proprietary tools, to enhance data analysis, automate processes, and improve collaboration.”
With this latest opening, Google Cloud affirms its place as a leading enabler of innovation and digital resilience, not only in Mexico, but across Latin America as well.
