OpenAI Sora Launches for ChatGPT Plus and Pro Users, Offering Advanced Video Creation

San Francisco, December 10, 2024 – Sora by OpenAI is the latest and most spectacular new-age video-generating AI tool that transforms text into life-like videos. It has been launched separately for ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Pro users. The  Sora Turbo version promises speed and resolution improvements that allow users to create videos up to 1080p and in various aspect ratios, including widescreen, vertical, and square-side ratios.

Users can now create videos lasting up to 20 seconds, remix previously existing assets, or even create new content using advanced prompting tools. To promote safety and transparency, all Sora content includes metadata proving origin and watermarks and other safeguards such as internal search tools. Sora doesn’t have real-life physics nor can perform highly complex motions, but the early release intends to get people to explore the possibilities and create norms for responsible usage that will grow with this technology.

OpenAI’s Sora will be offered as part of ChatGPT Plus subscriptions, allowing the creation of up to 50 videos every month at a resolution of 480p. Pro subscribers enjoy higher resolution and longer videos with pricing specific to the service expected in the following year. This launch is a major advancement in the democratization of AI video storytelling.
