Seoul, South Korea, December 13, 2024 – AI-powered Project Moohan was unveiled by Samsung Electronics to transform the future of eXtended Reality (XR). This is achieved by integrating Galaxy AI with the Android XR platform created in tandem with Google and Qualcomm to enable seamless interactions through voice, gestures, and natural conversations.
It is created for headsets and glasses and uses multimodal AI technology such as Gemini’s conversational UI and contextual understanding. With advanced Passthrough capabilities, users can immerse themselves in performing tasks such as exploring Google Maps or enjoying sports on YouTube.
“XR has quickly shifted from a distant promise to a tangible reality. We believe it has the potential to unlock new and meaningful ways to interact with the world by truly resonating with your everyday lives, transcending physical boundaries,” said Won-Joon Choi, EVP and Head of R&D, Mobile eXperience Business. “We are excited to collaborate with Google to reshape the future of XR, taking our first step towards it with Project Moohan.”
Project Moohan’s ergonomically optimized headset is expected to arrive shortly and will promise extraordinary immersive experiences across a scalable ecosystem of enriched content. This would also signify a bold entry by Samsung into a very transformative future of XR technology.
“We are at an inflection point for the XR, where breakthroughs in multimodal AI enable natural and intuitive ways to use technology in your everyday life”, said Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem, Google. “We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to build a new ecosystem with Android XR, transforming computing for everyone on next-generation devices like headsets, glasses, and beyond.”
