Sources reveal that former U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing to unveil a significant private sector initiative to boost artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the country. The announcement is expected to highlight investments totaling up to $500 billion over the next four years, with an initial commitment of $100 billion.

Donald Trump’s AI Plan Details

The venture, reportedly named “Stargate,” is a collaborative effort involving OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle. According to individuals familiar with the matter, executives from these companies, including SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, are slated to attend a meeting at the White House on Tuesday.

Although detailed information about the project remains under wraps, Stargate is expected to focus initially on building data centers in Texas. The initiative plans to expand its operations to additional states, potentially involving other investors. However, no confirmation on additional stakeholders has been provided.

Both SoftBank and OpenAI declined to issue statements regarding the project. Sources indicated that the collaboration marks one of the largest commitments toward AI infrastructure development by the private sector in recent years.

Meanwhile, on Monday, President Donald Trump repealed a 2023 executive order signed by Joe Biden, according to a Reuters report. The order had mandated developers of AI systems that posed potential risks to national security, public health, or the economy to conduct safety tests and share their findings with federal authorities under the Defense Production Act. It also tasked federal agencies with creating standards for these tests and addressing associated risks, including cybersecurity and chemical threats.

Biden’s executive order had been introduced as Congress struggled to establish legislation to regulate the rapidly advancing field of AI. However, Trump’s decision to revoke the directive signals a shift in approach toward AI regulation and development in the United States.

The Stargate project appears to align with this new direction, aiming to enhance AI capabilities by significantly increasing investment in infrastructure. Industry insiders suggest that the scale of the initiative could attract additional private sector participation, although specific partnerships beyond the founding companies remain unclear.

Further announcements regarding Stargate’s timeline and scope are anticipated, as discussions with investors and stakeholders continue to develop.
