Adobe has officially made its debut in the generative AI video space with the launch of its latest Firefly Video Model to compete in AI-generated production-quality video generation.
The company announced on Wednesday that it would offer subscription plans at $9.99 and $29.99 per month, which allows users to generate high-quality fiver-second videos.
“We’re pricing it at a lower point right now for adoption,” Ely Greenfield, chief technology officer of Adobe’s creative software business, told to prominent media outlet. “If you do the math and look what’s out there, we’re competitive in the marketplace.”
The announcement adds a feather to Adobe’s AI cap, which reinforces its dominance in creative software by integrating generative AI into its Creative Cloud suite. The Firefly application enables users to create images, vectors, and videos. However, the application is currently present in public beta form.
“The new Firefly Video Model — the industry’s first commercially safe AI video generation model — powers Generate Video (beta) in the Firefly application, as well as Generative Extend (beta) in Adobe Premiere Pro, and generates IP-friendly video content that can be used in production today,” Adobe team stated in the announcement. “It is the latest offering in the Firefly family of creative generative AI models, which has been used to generate over 18 billion assets globally.”
The launch of the Firefly Video Model comes after Adobe’s October announcement of its Video AI plans, which came shortly after Meta rolled out its generative AI research based on text-to-video capabilities. Meta’s Movie Gen, an evolution of its Make-A-Scene and LIama Image models.
