Meta has made alterations to labeling its AI-induced works on its platform, from the commonly known, made with AI, to AI info, after facing much flak. This was because many of the works it labeled and made with AI actually had nothing to do with it. The change will be witnessed on both Instagram and Facebook. All its applications are also included. Now, the AI info label, if clicked, will go into the details of the production.
This comes after statements doing the rounds that Meta has been utilizing actual photographers to click photos and passing them off as being produced by AI. In question is a photo taken by the ex-White House photographer Pete Souza, which Meta duly labeled as AI-produced.
According to Meta, it utilizes established indicators accepted by AI businesses while labeling the productions, along with tools to identify their authenticity as AI-produced. The company agreed that insignificant changes made to the works are being passed off as AI-produced.
Meta also mentioned that, according to public opinion, they also felt that the labeling done with the help of the indicators did not have much information attached. For instance, even in the case of certain cosmetic changes, the labeling was made with AI, misleading the masses.
Presently, Meta is actively engaged in enhancing and updating its labeling process, with AI info being a major part of it. This will now be inculcated in all fields, including audio, video, and image information.
