Adobe Unveils AI Updates for Premiere Pro With After Effects

Adobe has introduced some new AI-based upgrades to Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Frame.io, which are expected to accelerate the video editing process with improved efficiency.

The new suite of AI tools includes Generative Extend, Media Intelligence, new 3D features, and so many others. Among all these new features, Generative Extend has attracted attention, which allows editors to lengthen video and audio clips without giving up quality.

The next major feature, Media Intelligence, allows instant searching of vast media libraries. It helps editors organize content in a better way.

“We’re so excited to see how the Premiere Pro community uses Generative Extend in 4K and AI-powered Media Intelligence to create stories that capture our imaginations,” Ashley Still, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media at Adobe, said. “By harnessing the power of Firefly and our advanced AI capabilities, we’re transforming the video editing experience and enabling our customers to focus on what matters most to them — telling vivid, compelling stories.”

Editing With an AI Tool

The latest Premiere Pro upgrades come with automation capabilities that simplify the editing process. Generative Extend, powered by Adobe’s Firefly Video Model, enables editors to extend video clips in 4K resolutions and in vertical formats. This upgrade provides great help in creating cinematic and social media content.

Filmmaker Ernie Gilbert, editor of A24’s “Opus,” stated, “These tools will help remove some of the tedium of the process, allowing us to focus on what’s ultimately going to affect the audience most.”

Apart from this, new AI-based tools include Caption Translation, which can translate subtitles into 27 languages. Meanwhile, Premiere Color Management automatically converts log footage into HDR and SDR, which ensures consistency across shooting formats.

After Effects and Frame.io Receive Major Upgrades

The After Effects update reveals a high-performance preview playback engine, new 3D motion tools, and HDR monitoring. The tool will improve visual effects workflows. On the other hand, the Frame.io V4 upgrade will provide additional cloud storage to editors with AI-powered transcription.
