Apple Introduces iPad Air with M3 Chip and Redesigned Magic Keyboard

Cupertino, CAThe next-gen iPad Air was officially revealed by Apple today and it now sports the powerful M3 chip which makes this tablet one of the most able ones in its class. With an 11-inch and 13-inch variant, the new iPad Air brings a larger alternative for the first time ever from Apple under this Air series.

“iPad Air is so popular because of its unmatched combination of powerful performance, portability, and support for advanced accessories, all at an affordable price,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “For everyone from college students taking notes with Apple Pencil Pro, to travelers and content creators who need powerful productivity on the go, iPad Air with M3, Apple Intelligence, and the new Magic Keyboard take versatility and value to the next level.”

The heart of the new iPad Air lives inside the M3 chip, which promises a lot of torque when compared to M1-powered models. It has an 8-core CPU and 9-core GPU that deliver CPU performance gains of up to 35% and graphics gains of 40%. This allows for smoother multitasking and even an AI-assisted experience with console-level gaming. In addition, Apple claims that it will allow seamless video editing on this iPad Air for 3D rendering, empowering the creative.

Along with the announcement of the iPad Air, Apple also introduced a reimagined Magic Keyboard specific to both sizes of iPad Air. The new floating design with its larger trackpad gives the user a taste of a laptop-like experience with more accurate control and better typing feel. There is an aluminum palm rest for the keyboard and improved key stability for added comfort in long typing sessions as Apple pushes the iPad to achieve true productivity.

The camera arrangement of the iPad Air has been modernized, now boasting a 12MP Ultra-Wide front-facing camera that is reoriented horizontally to improve video conferences and calls. The rear 12MP camera has Smart HDR 4, which is designed to work better in bad illumination and records video with 4K resolution.

Software wise, iPadOS 18 was introduced with the announcement of some AI-powered features such as Smart Script for handwriting recognition, live text editing, and overall better multitasking functionality. Along with Apple Pencil Pro support, iPad Air becomes the ultimate tool for digital artists, students, and professionals alike.

Preorder the iPad Air (M3) and the latest Magic Keyboard today, with shipping beginning from March 12. The base price for the 11-inch variant begins at $599 and $799 for the 13″, while the Magic Keyboard is available separately for $299.
