Baidu Prepares to Launch Ernie 4.5 Model in March

As the race for artificial intelligence intensifies,  the Chinese multinational technology company, Baidu is expected to introduce an upgraded version of its AI model, Ernie, in mid-March. However, there’s no official confirmation of this information from Baidu. 

This revelation comes after Baidu disclosed its plan to gradually launch its upgraded Ernie 4.5 AI model in the upcoming months. The company also plans to make it an open-source tool on June 30.

 

Reports suggest that the upgraded 4.5 Ernie model will have enhanced multimodal capabilities, better reasoning skills, and other improvements. This means the upgraded version will compile different types of information more systematically, such as text, images, videos, and audio.

Earlier, the Chinese tech giant, Baidu disclosed that ErnieBot will officially become free to use on desktop and mobile starting April 1. The company also shared a new feature for free “Deep Search”, which enhances problem-solving, planning, and tool usage. 

Baidu is also preparing to launch Ernie 5.0 model in the second half of 2025 to compete with DeepSeek’s R1, which took the world by storm.

Baidu Jumps Into AI Race

After DeepSeek’s R1 launch, numerous AI firms like OpenAI, Baidu, Anthropic, and others accelerated their AI development process to sustain in the market. Yesterday, OpenAI introduced a new version of its artificial intelligence model, GPT-4.5.
