San Jose, Calif. – Cisco has launched its pioneering AI Defense solution to tackle urgent security challenges in enterprise AI adoption. The innovative platform comes at a time when existing security solutions are found to be helpless in protecting against rapidly evolving AI-related threats.
“Business and technology leaders can’t afford to sacrifice safety for speed when embracing AI,” said Jeetu Patel, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, at Cisco.
“In a dynamic landscape where competition is fierce, speed decides the winners. Fused into the fabric of the network, Cisco AI Defense combines the unique ability to detect and protect against threats when developing and accessing AI applications without tradeoffs.”
The solution addresses two critical areas: securing the development and deployment of AI applications and protecting access to them. According to Cisco’s 2024 AI Readiness Index, only 29% of organizations believe they are prepared to detect and prevent unauthorized AI tampering.
“The adoption of AI exposes companies to new risks that traditional cybersecurity solutions don’t address,” said Kent Noyes, Global Head of AI & Cyber Innovation at World Wide Technology. “Cisco AI Defense represents a significant leap forward in AI security, providing full visibility of an enterprise’s AI assets and protection against evolving threats.”
Comprehensive features for AI application discovery, model validation, and runtime security are offered by AI Defense. Its platform gives visibility to shadow and sanctioned AI tools controls access through the implementation of access control policies, and prevents data leakage. The solution has been built into Cisco’s Security Cloud using machine learning models combined with threat intelligence from Cisco Talos to provide self-optimizing security controls.
Scheduled to be available in March, AI Defense marks the latest development of AI-powered security innovations by Cisco, building off the success of Cisco Hypershield. AI Defense works well with the already existing data flow and follows industry standards set by MITRE, OWASP, and NIST, which puts Cisco at the forefront of enterprise AI security solutions.
