Rome, November 7, 2024 – In partnership with the OECD, Cisco has launched the Digital Well-being Hub, the first all-encompassing platform aimed at evaluating the impact of digital technologies on well-being across social connections, mental health, digital literacy, and more. This partnership seeks to advance the understanding of the benefits and challenges presented by the digital age, particularly the widespread use of artificial intelligence and technology in everyday interactions.
The Digital Well-being Hub continuously incorporates user input into the already existing OECD data to evaluate the effect of technology on aspects such as climate awareness, life satisfaction, and cyber safety. This unique perspective, combining subjective feedback with objective data, will help shape new policies and foster responsible digital transformation.
“Digital well-being isn’t one thing; it’s multifaceted and interconnected,” said Guy Dietrich, Cisco SVP and Chief Innovation Officer. “The evidence we gather from our Digital Well-being Hub will help people build healthier relationships with technology and create a more sustainable, secure, and inclusive digital future. By understanding how technology influences our well-being, we can unlock its full potential.”
The platform seeks to fill some of the existing knowledge gaps on the effects of digital life on people’s daily lives and work experiences, a concern for one-third of the world’s population that lacks Internet access.
Francine Katsoudas, Cisco’s Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer, remarked, “The Digital Well-being Hub shines a light on how advanced technology can build healthier lives and communities – and this is just the beginning.”
As Cisco and the OECD gather input from global users, the findings are expected to help steer policies toward a more balanced digital future that considers diverse digital experiences and provides insights into fostering positive digital lifestyles. This remarkable undertaking is a major milestone in the quest to capture digital well-being for the future.
