DeepL Surpasses Google in Language AI Use

COLOGNE, GERMANY—October 9, 2024—DeepL has emerged as the most popular provider in the field of Machine Translation, which was published higher than potents like Google and Microsoft, as per recent research by the Association of Language Companies and Slator.

The study focused on 127 language service provider companies across 28 countries and showed that 82% are currently using DeepL, while Google stands at 46% and Microsoft at 32%.

DeepL has advanced through the rankings like a meteoroid, from third place in 2023 to emerge top in 2024. This forecast suggests that language services increasingly perceive AI-driven strategies over traditional humanistic approaches.

“This exciting milestone highlights the accuracy and reliability of DeepL’s specialized Language AI platform, which is trusted by businesses worldwide for critical translation projects. It also is a testament to our positive impact on their cost savings, efficiency, and growth,”

Said Jarek Kutylowski, CEO and Founder, DeepL.

“As AI in language services gains in popularity, we are honored to be the industry’s preferred Language AI partner and are committed to providing industry-leading, cutting-edge, specialized tools for translation, AI-driven content creation, and more.”

The ALC report further avers that employers of the language services turbulent sector have also embraced AI technology gathering pace, with 75% of the respective companies reporting attempts in the past six months to seek out AI solutions actively.

This is because of the increasing construction of healthcare, law, and education among other sectors that embrace the help of AI.

“It’s striking that a specialized language AI company like DeepL has overtaken tech giants like Google and AWS as the top machine translation provider among language service companies surveyed by Slator on behalf of the ALC.

Said Anna Wyndham, Head of Research, Slator

As AI adoption speeds up and language AI becomes a key value driver, this shift suggests that agile, focused companies can outpace larger competitors by delivering impact in critical areas,”

The report cites improved AI technologies and higher customer demands as the main factors in DeepL’s advance.

This development underscores how specialized AI tools can outpace general-purpose solutions in terms of reliability and efficiency, particularly in translation.
