Ericsson and Wipro Power Odido’s 5G Growth with Cloud Migration

Ericsson and Wipro Power Odido’s 5G Growth with Cloud Migration

On October 22, 2024, Neatherlands-Ericsson and Wipro went public with the migration of 5 million mobile customers of Odido to the cloud-native platform Ericsson Billing which is hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

This cloud solution was executed in a single weekend which is a remarkable achievement in Odito’s strategy as it intends to ramp up its 5G service, among other virtual services like the recently launched Klik&Klaar fixed wireless access (FWA) solution.

The shift also leads to a better operational model and better customer experience while streamlining the billing cycle for both the business segment and the consumer segment.

The program was undertaken by Wipro, which acted as the system integrator and project integrator, ensuring interaction with the IT infrastructure existing in Odido. This shift decreased the technical debt and restructured Odido into a 5G scalable growth-ready company.

Søren Abildgaard, CEO of Odido, commented on this migration:

“We’ve just done a billing migration with 0 faults in it. A billing migration is like an open-heart surgery, on a marathon runner, while they run. And we managed to do that.”

Mats Karlsson, Head of Solution Area Business & Operations Support Systems at Ericsson, added:

“This transformation ensures that Odido can deliver superior service experiences at scale. Our cloud-native billing platform offers the flexibility and scalability needed to meet the demands of 5G and beyond. It positions Odido for future growth, as it continues to innovate and expand its offerings.”

Sarat Chand, MD Northern Europe, Wipro says;

“As a trusted and strategic partner to Odido, we are very proud to deliver such a complex Billing Transformation program for Odido. This milestone enables Odido to embrace fully automated billing capabilities and state-of-the-art operations on a fully scalable cloud infrastructure.

Sarat Chand, MD Northern Europe at Wipro, emphasized the partnership’s achievement, and commented,

Odido can leverage new billing solutions to launch more cutting-edge propositions and enhanced customer experience in the Dutch market. This initiative underscores our deep partnership with Ericsson and Odido and reaffirms our commitment to continuously simplifying and future-proofing our customers’ IT.”

The shift allows Odido to introduce new innovations while diversifying its services to address the growing needs of 5g technology.
