Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn has introduced its first large language model (LLM), “FoxBrain,” which aims to enhance manufacturing efficiency and supply chain management.
Built on Meta’s LIama 3.1 architecture, FoxBrain was trained using 120 Nvidia H100 GPUs within just 4 weeks, the company revealed in a statement. Foxconn, best known for assembling Apple iPhones and producing Nvidia AI servers, said the model will initially be deployed for internal applications.
Foxconn Plans to Use FoxBrain for Technological Advancements
Foxconn’s FoxBrain adds a major milestone in Taiwan’s AI development. It is the country’s first large language model (LLM) optimized for traditional Chinese and Taiwanese language styles. This linguistic specialization will establish FoxBrain as a powerful tool for regional businesses and government applications.
It sets apart from global AI models that primarily focus on English or simplified Chinese. While Foxconn acknowledges a slight performance gap compared to China’s DeepSeek model, the company asserts that FoxBrain delivers near-world-class performance.
Beyond manufacturing and supply chain management, Foxconn aims to leverage FoxBrain for broader technological advancements. The company sees AI as a strategic asset in optimizing industrial operations. It boosts efficiency and enhances decision-making processes.
FoxBrain’s capabilities span data analysis, decision support, document collaboration, mathematics, problem-solving, and code generation. Foxconn also plans to collaborate with technology partners. It expands the model’s applications and contributes to open-source AI development, particularly in manufacturing, supply chains, and intelligent decision-making.
Nvidia played a key role in FoxBrain’s development, it provides technical consulting and computing power via its Taiwan-based supercomputer, Taipei-1, which is the largest in the country, located in Kaohsiung. Foxconn will share further details about FoxBrain at Nvidia’s GTC developer conference in mid-March.
