30th October 2024, Kawasaki, Japan-Morinaga Milk, and Fujitsu have worked together to develop a simulation system for the negative in which the price of raw materials oscillates about a specific minute.
Focusing on how the received data relates to business profit, the new system which is AI-based allows Morinaga Milk Industry to streamline the manual processes of collecting data from around 500 suppliers across 23 factories through the application of Fujitsu’s Manufacturing Supply Chain Planning solution.
Additionally, since the company gathers data from all manufacturers and suppliers, there are expectations for how changing material prices and exchange rates will influence management policies and operational profitability shortly.
After the successful implementation of the system right after the May 2022 trial, for two months, which was also successful, Morinaga Milk has indicated to the public that their performance and efficiency in operations have improved.
“In a matter of few clicks, this system reveals issues we never knew presenting opportunities,’’
commented Digital Solutions at Fujitsu’s representative, Hideki Wakabayashi, the Director of this department.
The reports showed that the implementation of the system was very timely as it would enable quicker reaction to changes in the market reducing the associated risks tied to fluctuations in the supply chain.
This partnership highlights the dedication of Fujitsu toward the advanced Digital Transformation (DX) approach that seeks technology-focused integration processes in Morinaga’s operations.
“Fujitsu’s AI-based system fits to our goal of having a responsive and efficient supply chain,”
Noted Takashi Hirayama, who holds the position of Chief Operations Officer at Morinaga.
As Fujitsu will keep working towards implementing these innovations, both companies wish to redefine the notion of business resilience using real-time simulations and improved decision-making processes.
