Google Unveils Gemini-Powered AI Features for Google TV

Amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI),  Google is set to launch its Gemini-powered AI features for Google TV, as announced on Monday during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. In a bold move to reshape how users consume news on television, Google is set to launch its AI features for Google TV.

These new developments are set to make smart TVs more interactive and user-friendly, which is a major upgrade in the Google TV operating system.

The Mountain View-based tech giant revealed that the integration of Gemini models will enhance Google Assitant’s capabilities, allowing users to access AI-driven functionalities such as summarizing news content, searching through media libraries, and answering a wide range of queries related to streaming platforms and device functions.

In the latest blog post, Google shared the details of the upcoming AI features. The company clarified that Gemini will work alongside Google Assistant rather than replace it. The upgraded assistant will offer a more intuitive experience, which will allow users to engage in natural conversations with their smart TVs.

The advancement will streamline the process of finding content, making it easier for users to locate shows or movies through detailed voice queries. Google also noted that these improvements will lower the RAM requirements for Android TV OS devices.

Google TV’s New Features: Voice Commands, Screensavers, and Many More

One of the key updates includes the ability to ask the voice assistant questions about a variety of topics, such as travel, health, space, and history. For example, users can inquire about recent ISRO rocket launches, and the TV will display relevant YouTube videos with contextual information.

Another notable feature is the AI-driven news overview functionality. Users can request a summary of the biggest headlines of the day, which will be presented directly on their TV screens. This feature sets Google TV as a central hub for both entertainment and real-time information.

Furthermore, Google’s Gemini-powered AI will also offer personalized experiences, such as creating customized art for screensavers during idle screen time. Also, users will be able to control smart home devices via their TV, even when it is in ambient mode.
