The tech giant, Google has announced its first Pixel Drop of the year, which brings several exciting new features to its Pixel devices with AI-based capabilities.
These new advancements will introduce improved security measures and expand accessibility to various regions.
One of the major upgrades is for Gemini Live, which is Google’s conversational AI. With this update, users can interact in a combination of 45 languages without adjusting settings. Originally launched with the Pixel 9 series, its multimodal capabilities will be now available on Pixel 6 and newer models, as well as the Pixel Fold. Users can also add images, files, and YouTube videos to enhance their searches.
In the upcoming weeks, Google plans to roll out live video and screen-sharing capabilities for Gemini Live.
The March Pixel Drop introduces a ‘Suggestions’ feature in the Pixel Screenshots. It will help users organize their screenshots efficiently. The app will also support work profiles, which makes it easier for professionals to manage their workflow.
Google is also expanding Pixel Studio, which enables users to generate and share unique images of people using simple text descriptions. A new Connected Cameras feature allows Pixel users to link their devices to external cameras such as GoPros or another Pixel phone. It provides multiple angles for streaming on social media.
Additionally, Pixel AI weather reports and a pollen tracker will be now available in Japan and Germany. Japanese speakers can also access AI-based summaries in the Pixel Recorder app.
Google Unveils Scam Detection Tool and Satellite SOS in Pixel Devices
One of the most important updates is the introduction of Scam Detection in Messages. This on-device AI feature can analyze text patterns in real-time, which helps users to flag potential scams to protect users from fraud. Google is also expanding Satellite SOS to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and Canada.
For Pixel Watch users, Google’s Loss of Pulse Detection feature has received FDA clearance in the U.S. and will start rolling out at the end of the month.
