Grameenphone Partners with Ericsson to Revolutionize AI-Driven Telecom Services

Dhaka, Bangladesh – Grameenphone, the largest mobile operator in Bangladesh, has agreed to enter into a six-year strategic partnership with Ericsson to foster AI-driven service and digital transformation. The partnership represents one of the largest global catalog-driven charging and mediation deployments, which expects Grameenphone to deliver personalized customer solutions quickly and efficiently.

The agreement enhances Grameenphone’s former Business Support Systems capabilities with the help of industry-leading AI applications for intelligent usage analysis, anomaly detection, and operational optimization. Through the Order Care and Catalog Manager, Ericsson will modernize service delivery, allowing Grameenphone to rapidly launch innovative offerings and prepare for seamless migration to 5G. 

“The integration of Ericsson’s cutting-edge solutions will significantly enhance Grameenphone’s ability to streamline operations, accelerate digital transformation, and deliver world-class services to millions of customers. The extension underscores Grameenphone’s vision to shape the future of connectivity and digital experiences, setting a global benchmark for the telecom industry,” said Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenphone.

David Hägerbro, Head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, emphasized the deal’s importance: “This partnership represents one of the largest ongoing collaborations in telecom management. With a leading OSS/BSS technology stack powered by AI at its core and backed by Ericsson Managed Services, we are well positioned to deliver significant value to Grameenphone and its customers over the next 6 years.”

With years of cooperation behind them, Ericsson’s development in Bangladesh’s telecommunications system comprised of 2G, 3G, and 4G rollout, and going forward, also 5G services by the new agreement. It represents a strong pledge to jointly bring innovation, customer-centric solutions, and further development towards a digital Bangladesh.
