Grok 3, a Scary Smart AI on Earth, Is Out Now; Details

The tech mogul, Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, officially launched the most awaited Grok 3, the smartest AI on Earth on Monday night. With the launch, Musk strives to jump into the AI race, which has already been intensified with the introduction of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and China’s DeepSeek.

At the launch demonstration, Elon Musk boldly stated, “Grok is to understand the universe. We’re driven by curiosity about the nature of the universe — that’s also what causes us to be a maximally truth-seeking AI, even if that truth is sometimes at odds with what is politically correct.”

Musk Calls Grok 3 ‘Scary Smart’

Grok 3 is reportedly 10 times more computationally powerful than its previous versions. It uses self-correction mechanisms that mitigate ‘AI hallucination’, which is an error that generates incorrect information.

Elon Musk claims that Grok 3 has outperformed every AI model currently present, including DeepSeek, Gemini 2 Pro, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and ChatGPT 4.0, particularly in coding, mathematics, and scientific reasoning.

What makes Grok 3 special is its reliance on synthetic data and Reinforcement learning (RL) capabilities. The AI was trained using xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, which is powered by over 100,000 Nvidia GPU hours.

Also, Grok 3’s comes with a crucial upgrade called a DeepSearch, which doesn’t only provide answers; but it explains its reasoning, query interpretation, and response formulation.

X Premium Plus Subscribers can use Grok 3 via their X accounts. Users who upgrade their subscription on X (formerly Twitter) can interact with the AI through the Grok iOS app or via the official Grok website at grok.com. Meanwhile, the Android version is only available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store at present.
