Huawei, Telecom Giants Unite to Advance AI-Driven UBB Networks at UBBF

Istanbul, Türkiye, November 7, 2024-Industry representatives during the 10th Ultra-Broadband Forum (UBBF 2024) disclosed the Initiative “Build AI-Centric UBB Advanced Networks” whose aim is to incorporate AI in UBB networks to tackle global intelligent growth.

Endorsed by main operators like China Telecom, Türk Telekom, Swisscom, AIS, and Huawei, this initiative aims to leverage the speed of AI-network development, improve operational efficiency, and promote global digital inclusion.

“Network intelligence is the backbone of our vision for future networks, and this is what I am looking to, particularly with this initiative emphasizing consensus,”

Said Seizo Onoe, Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, ITU.

This pertains to the new consistency that the initiative entails. According to Martin Creaner, Director General of the WBBA, the initiative also sorts digital inclusion. In his words,

“WBBA will expedite global transformation in ultra-broadband AI application by improving customer experience, reducing costs of operations and increasing revenue for businesses.”

Tang Ke, China Telecom’s Vice President, noted achievements in the AI-based development of optical networks, announcing the enablement by China Telecom of the

“First 10-gigabit cloud broadband WLAN network in the world”.

In this regard, Tang commented,

“The all-optical network architecture developed by China Telecom is high-speed and intelligent, allowing households to have cloud applications and services thereby bringing about a new cloud broadband era.”

Additionally, Huawei envisioned that “users will actively deploy AI in nature in low latency and ultra-large bandwidth, making the whole network reliable and able to rapidly evolve in multiple industries.”

The initiative suggests the focus on AI-based networks, which will not only increase the ease of use but improve the value the users ultimately receive and this is a game changer for the telecom businesses around the world.
