Tokyo, November 13, 2024—Kyndryl, the biggest provider of IT infrastructure services in the world, has announced the establishment of Japan’s first-ever AI private cloud platform today. This is an important achievement in the development of AI infrastructure in Japan. Developed by Dell AI Factory and NVIDIA, the platform intends to facilitate Japanese businesses’ use of AI while protecting and guaranteeing data sovereignty and security.
The new offering allows financial services, manufacturing, retail, and educational sectors to build and test various AI solutions in a secure environment. This comes as a response to increasing fears of data security and sovereignty in the development of AI systems.
“Organizations want to explore and understand how AI and generative AI can enhance and accelerate their business and technology transformation initiatives. They need a reliable and scalable environment with advanced security capabilities where they can develop, test, and refine new solutions,” said Jonathan Ingram, President of Kyndryl Japan.
The solution brings together Kyndryl’s Vital AI Lab capability and the AI-powered Kyndryl Bridge platform for complete AI application development, along with NVIDIA’s AI Enterprise software. Because of this, organizations can tap into the power of generative AI and LLMs.

“Enterprises need next-gen expertise and skills to drive innovation within their businesses and tackle today’s AI challenges,” added Bob Pette, Vice President of Enterprise Platforms at NVIDIA, emphasizing the significance of this collaboration.
The framework will support NVIDIA’s advanced technologies such as NeMo, NeMo Retriever, and NIM microservices to develop made-to-order AI applications without compromising on security and sovereignty policies. This is a positive development as it lowers barriers for Japanese businesses aspiring to build infrastructure for enterprise-grade AI, which has always been an issue given the sensitivity of data security and governance concerns.
