Tenstorrent and LG Team Up to Revolutionize AI-Powered Devices

SEOUL, Nov. 12, 2024 — LG Electronics and Tenstorrent have announced the strategic deepening of their collaboration and expansion of the product line of AI chips for smart home devices, future mobility, and data centers.

Growing from an initial endeavor, this cooperation will be in line with LG’S so-called core strategy labeled as ‘Affectionate Intelligence’ allowing the enhancement of AI capabilities across multiple product segments.

The gathering, which was hosted by LG HQs in Seoul saw several key officers including LG CEO William Cho, Tenstorrent CEO Jim Keller, LG’s CTO Kim Byoung-hoon, and Tenstorrent CCO David Bennett.

“We are set to bring a whole new level of customer experience through the Affectionate Intelligence that we have, which is, concentrating on deliberate and low solutions that comprehensively understand and address our client’s requirements,”

Havrille said. Keller extended this perspective agreeing, remarking that:

“With our AI and RISC-V technology LG is securing its silicon future and can offer tailored solutions to customers”.

The partnership is built around Tenstorrent’s proven expertise in AI IP and high-performance RISC-V IP and LG’s solid SoC (System-on-Chip) design capabilities.

In this scenario, this collaboration in particular will be aimed at the use of AI technologies in the company’s home appliances, video processing units, and devices for future mobility where AI performance and efficiency are required.

Besides that, the companies are planning to implement a permanent internship program to stimulate creativity in the area of AI chip architecture.

By making exclusive AI chips for smart homes and mobile devices, LG intends to increase its leadership in the AI sector. The company’s specialized SoC R&D center, which has produced important AI processors like “DQ-C” and “LG α (Alpha) 11” which are basically used in OLED TV displays, will be key for the advancement of the technologies.

Future emerging electronic applications will be completely transformed leveraging AI, so LG and Tenstorrent partnership will be extremely valuable in consumer products and development of AI technologies.
