India – The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology MeitY has brought India a step closer to the future through its IndiaAI Mission – a comprehensive program for harvesting innovation, governance, and inclusion in artificial intelligence.
India AI Portal (INDIAai) is one of the developments through which MeitY has put its mission into action. This is a central hub housing 2,800-plus articles, 472 startups, and 184 government initiatives related to AI in India. The computing platform, AIRAWAT, is ranked 75th according to the Global Supercomputing List and provides 200 petaflops of AI computing, scalable to 790 petaflops, thus offering a robust AI research infrastructure.
MeitY has also set up an Inter-Ministerial Committee to advance a robotics ecosystem, targeting research, prototyping, and manufacturing activities under its ambit. The IndiaAI Mission also aligns with pillars like Skilling in AI, Data Management, and Responsible AI under the “AI for All” vision.
India’s leadership in the global AI arena is bolstered further by its position as Chair of the GPAI Council, an important foothold for India in the ethical development of AI. As India establishes itself in the AI domain, these efforts aim to utilize AI to bring social good and inclusive growth.
