NetApp and Google Cloud have launched a number of new capabilities for Google Cloud NetApp Volumes, which promise greater speed, flexibility, and simplicity for organizations operating in hybrid and cloud-native environments.
The service, called Google Cloud NetApp Volumes, is a fully managed storage solution that helps companies store and access large amounts of data without having to worry about the technical details. With the latest updates, businesses can now move and manage even bigger datasets (up to 1 petabyte, that’s 1,000 terabytes).
Google Adds Vertex AI Integration
One major upgrade is that NetApp Volumes now works more closely with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform. This means companies can use their data directly in AI tools without having to build complicated systems to move and prepare the data. This is especially helpful for teams building custom AI chatbots and other smart applications.
- It will provide better speed and size options for premium and extreme service levels. Businesses can now handle very large projects like chip design, advanced AI, or managing big media libraries without breaking their data into smaller parts.
- It will provide more control over performance and cost with the flex service level. Companies can now choose exactly how storage space they need, which will help them avoid overspending.
- It provides support for Google Cloud’s Assuree Workloads, which helps businesses meet specific rules and regulations.
NetApp’s Cloud Storage head, Pravjit Tiwana, said the goal is to help businesses use AI faster and more easily by giving them strong and flexible tools to manage their data.
Google Cloud’s Sameet Agarwal added, “Our collaboration with Google Cloud is accelerating generative AI data pipelines by seamlessly integrating the latest AI innovations with the robust data management capabilities of NetApp ONTAP.”
