Qualcomm Set to Transform In-Car AI for Mercedes-Benz and Li Auto

Qualcomm's AI-Powered Platforms Chosen by Mercedes-Benz and Li Auto-1

October 23, 2024 – New York, NY- During the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm announced its latest automotive platforms, which are the Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite.

Designed to facilitate the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDV), these AI-driven platforms are powered by Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU. These platforms offer a 12 times enhancement in AI performance along with a triple computing boost in comparison to previous versions, and this will help in revolutionizing in-vehicle experiences with cutting-edge technology.

In this regard, both Li Auto and Mercedes-Benz AG will use Qualcomm’s new platforms for their upcoming commercialized vehicles. This indicates that the industry is constantly moving towards a centralized architecture with even more advanced AI systems integrated into it.

The Snapdragon Ride Elite platform’s focus is automated driving capabilities, while the Cockpit Elite focuses on the in-car information system’s digital experiences to include

multimedia, real-time driver monitoring, and AI-powered interactive services.

“Qualcomm Technologies remains at the forefront of innovation with platforms like Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite, as the automotive industry evolves towards centralized computing, software-defined vehicles, and AI-driven architectures,”

Said Nakul Duggal, group general manager, of automotive, industrial, and cloud, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

“With our strongest performing compute, graphics, and AI capabilities, coupled with industry-leading power efficiency and cutting-edge software enablement for digital cockpits and automated driving, these new elite Snapdragon automotive platforms address the industry’s needs for higher compute levels, empowering automakers to redefine automotive experiences for their customers.”

Due to flexible architecture, manufacturers can integrate automated driving and cockpit digital features into one system, hence, giving rise to simplified vehicle architecture and reducing time to market.

“Qualcomm Technologies stands at the forefront of automotive innovation, and we are pleased to continue our trusted collaboration with them by integrating Snapdragon Cockpit Elite into our future vehicles,”

Said Magnus Östberg, Chief Software Officer, Mercedes-Benz AG.

“This powerful and efficient central compute technology will enable us to provide our customers with an unmatched in-vehicle experience—one that is uniquely tailored, seamlessly connected, and remarkably intuitive.”

As carmakers try to redefine the limits of SDVs, AI-tailored products from Qualcomm are offering the opportunity to set the course for the next turn in the evolution of the industry, making driving more custom, smart, and effective.
