Qualcomm and DeepRoute.ai to Develop Smart Driving Solutions

Chinese self-driving startup DeepRoute.ai has partnered with U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm to co-develop advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) built on the latter’s Snapdragon platforms.

Qualcomm & DeepRoute.ai Join Latest Trend

According to official sources, the partnership will focus on both lidar and vision-only solutions, which are aimed at enabling features like urban autopilot, highway navigation, and automated parking.

This partnership shows the latest trend in the autonomous driving sector, where too much complexity and capital intensity are forcing companies to pursue strategic partnerships.

After partnering with Qualcomm, DeepRoute.ai will be able to gain access to powerful processing capabilities. It will accelerate development timelines while reducing research and development costs, according to the report.

This is a big advantage for a company that raised $50 million in pre-series A funding in 2019. The company is now vying for relevance in an increasingly competitive and cost-sensitive market.

Notably, DeepRoute’s dual-track approach shows a calculated bet on balancing performance with affordability, which aims to develop both lidar and vision-based systems.

Lidar has long been considered critical for high-precision sensing, but its high cost has hindered widespread adoption. By offering flexible configurations, DeepRoute will target to meet diverse market demands, particularly as industry players divert focus from high-concept demos to scalable, real-world deployment.

Earlier, Hyundai formed a similar partnership with Nvidia, and Uber made a fleet partnership with Waymo. This trend shows how synergy between hardware, software, and mobility platforms is becoming a blueprint for progress.
