SAP noted a strong acceleration in momentum for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud adoption within the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, following the release of the global Q4 earnings. Businesses across the region have wholly adopted SAP’s AI-first strategy, with large enterprises employing RISE with SAP, SAP Business AI, and sustainability solutions as the chosen options for their transformation agenda.
President of SAP Asia Pacific and Japan, Paul Marriott, said, “2024 was the year that artificial intelligence moved from hype to reality for SAP customers across Asia Pacific and Japan. This will only accelerate in 2025, as we target a total of 400 embedded AI use cases which will boost productivity by up to 30% for the top personas in our applications. This level of adoption underlines the value organisations across Asia are realising from Business AI right now.”
NTT DATA, Inc., a global IT services leader, used the RISE with SAP and SAP Business AI to modernize its ERP landscape. Meanwhile, India-based Premium Transmission Limited and Ashok Leyland selected SAP Business AI to increase operational efficiencies. SA Power Networks, a utility in Australia, also embraced RISE with SAP and SAP Business AI.
India’s ITC Limited, a major conglomerate, complemented SAP S/4HANA with SAP Business AI, SAP Business Technology Platform, and SAP SuccessFactors to improve its operations.
Cloud adoption was appreciably high in Q4, with organizations overcoming initial barriers for moving to an SAP cloud. Australian Supermarket giant Coles, with 120,000 plus employees, went live with RISE with SAP- the backbone of its digital strategy for 2025.
India’s Trent Limited, operating six fashion brands, noted, “The migration to SAP RISE is just the beginning. We are excited about the future possibilities that this platform offers. By leveraging the advanced analytics and automation capabilities, we can further optimise our business operations and drive growth. SAP Cloud Success Services further helps in seamless migration and adoption from first use to full use.”
Some of the other go-lives were Hyundai Glovis, Roy Hill, Aditya Birla Fashion, Hokkaido Electric Power, and Daewoong Pharmaceuticals. New customer wins for SAP included Japan’s Tosoh Corporation and Korea’s Underdogs, both looking to use SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
SAP’s sustainability solutions saw interest in Vedanta Limited (India) and Charoen Pokphand Foods (Thailand), which are using SAP Sustainability Footprint Management to track their carbon emissions and improve their environmental compliance. Charoen Pokphand Foods Ltd (CPF) said, “In October 2024, CPF successfully went live with SAP Environment Management, SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, SAP Sustainability Control Tower, and SAP Analytics Cloud. This platform enables all CPF operations to trace, track, and report materials from its source to the factory. The platform also transparently collects data and calculates Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions under the SBTi standard, ensuring compliance with future audits.”
Reflecting on SAP’s success, Marriott concluded, “From AI to cloud to sustainability, it’s clear that companies across Asia Pacific continue to choose SAP to drive true business value. As we enter 2025, SAP will continue to put our customers at the centre by focusing on an AI-first, suite-first strategy to empower resilience, innovation, and new revenues.”
