November 18th, 2024, Cary, NC-SAS endorsed the AI Pact of the European Commission and committed to the principles of the EU AI Act even before it came into force. As part of the initiative, around 130 organizations have committed themselves to advancing the governance of AI, assisting in recognizing high-risk systems, and enhancing AI literacy for more reliable future AI development.
This commitment underscores Sas’s focus on how AI should be done responsibly across industries.

“Our experience, culture, and technology meant that we were able to rapidly start taking steps to comply with AI regulations. We welcome engagement with other organizations as well who see the same commitment.”
This partnership does not stop within Europe. Regulators and policymakers have cooperated with SAS globally in shaping AI standards.
Previously, it has assisted the EU in its legislative procedure on the AI Act and cooperated with the Swedish Institute for Standards in producing harmonized standards.
In the U.S., SAS takes part in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s U.S AI Safety Institute Consortium as well as the Commonwealth AI Consortium among others.
The AI Pact additionally accelerates and aids the cooperation of signatories with each other by exchanging practices. Such a practice is deliberate to assist raise public confidence in the uptake of AI technology.
