Smarsh Unveils AI Assistant to Revolutionize Compliance for Small and Mid-Sized Firms

Portland, OregonSmarsh, a communications data and intelligence leader, announced the launch of Smarsh AI Assistant for Professional Archive as the next-generation compliance solution to bring enterprise-level AI for small and mid-sized firms.

For the last decade, Smarsh has worked with top-tier global banks to develop and optimize AI-driven compliance solutions. The launch of Smarsh AI Assistant means smaller firms such as RIAs, broker-dealers, insurers, hedge funds, and governmental agencies will have access to superior technology for compliance solutions built specifically for their needs.

“Smarsh AI Assistant is a game changer,” said Sheldon Cummings, President, Corporate Business at Smarsh. “We’re democratizing AI for compliance, equipping every Professional Archive customer—regardless of size or budget—with an elite compliance assistant. We’re proud to enable our customers to work smarter, reduce risk, and protect their bottom line.”

The Smarsh AI Assistant provides standout workflow features that enhance and reduce manual compliance processes. Using Enterprise Conduct’s Scenario Catalog, AI Assistant can rapidly assess confidence scoring, thereby heightening the speed at which compliance reviews occur. The user-friendly interface integrates naturally within the Smarsh Professional Archive, meaning little training will be required to move from compliance processes.

The AI Assistant will efficiently translate any archived messages into different languages, thus ensuring robust oversight across various communication channels. Acting like a “second pair of eyes,” the AI Assistant flags potential risks intelligently, thus reducing false positives and increasing review accuracy.

“The strong demand from our customers—60% of whom ranked this product as the one they are most excited about in a recent user training —demonstrates the urgency for a solution that simplifies compliance without sacrificing power,” said Maya Keekattil, VP and Head of Product, Corporate Business Unit at Smarsh. “We’re not just offering an affordable option; we’re bringing the most advanced AI technology to small and mid-sized firms, enabling them to compete at the same level as the industry’s largest players. I’m excited to be leading this transformation, helping firms save time, reduce risk, and embrace a smarter, more efficient approach to compliance.”

Smarsh AI Assistant will be released to selected Professional Archive customers in March 2025, with an extended launch later in the year. It will be made available as a reasonably priced add-on to empower small and midsize firms with state-of-the-art AI compliance technology.

You can experience the AI Assistant first-hand at the FINRA Annual Conference in Washington D.C. (from May 13 to 15), at Pod #201 on M2 or in the Treasury Room on M4.
