IBM and Sompo Systems Partner on AI-Driven Project Risk Management

Sompo Systems begins applying IBM Japan's AI for project management automatic report generation function to production projects

November 5, 2024 | Tokyo, Japan — Sompo Systems, the information technology company of the Sompo Group, has confirmed that it will roll out the “AI for Project Management” solution from IBM Japan.

The solution is used to automate progress tracking and reporting as part of its production projects. This is expected to produce a big gain in the efficiency of all levels of the project.

This decision represents a significant change in the application of artificial intelligence to the task of managing and controlling project risks on-site.

Since October 2024, Sompo Systems has used one of the advanced AI functionalities to automatically generate reports in order to overcome handicaps related to data collection, project appraisal, and risk recognition and assessment which were tedious processes.

The AI uses the ability to recreate numerous project reports and depicts data for either field teams or management thus offering a single objective perspective.

” We do not have to produce tailored project reports so that project managers can concentrate on other plan members’ key functions that are critical,”

Noted Yoshihisa Miyazaki, CEO of Sompo Systems.

Furthermore, the system also gives alerts on the likely need to remove a potential barrier thereby making it easy to resolve such in advance.

“AI for Project Management” was created in order to feature a common standard in evaluation and easy interaction between operational and executive teams.

Akio Yamaguchi, IBM Japan’s CEO

“Our AI solution allows teams with management functions who are responsible for estimating the success of projects in a data-driven manner”.

The dashboard of the system uses colors to earmark areas of weakness in projects that require follow-through.

Sompo Systems’ first use of this technology was in January 2024 after which it has continually developed it through feedback and applied for full-scale use in the last month.

The firm’s future targets are to develop the AI capabilities further, while also introducing more chatbot functions aimed at reducing response time and enhancing evaluation of project quality through data.
