Huawei Partners with UNESCO to Transform STEM Education

November 20, 2024, Paris-Huawei’s TECH4ALL initiative appears to be playing an increasing role in Europe’s digital and green transformation as was witnessed during the TECH4ALL Forum held at the Huawei Connect Paris 2024.

New coalitions and progress in applying technology for the common good were announced during the forum.

Jeffrey Zhou, the President of ICT Marketing at Huawei said,

“Technology and partnerships are at the very heart of achieving a digital world that is both sustainable and inclusive.”

As part of the TECH4ALL initiative, which was started in 2019; environmental sustainability, education, and digital divide solutions have been facilitated.

Specific achievements were highlighted, including Tech4Nature, which is a global collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

According to James Hardcastle, Director of IUCN’s Global Protected and Conserved Areas Programme,

“Tech4Nature is one where we use innovating technology to solve the biodiversity and climate change crises.”

This initiative today facilitates activities in eight countries including a new biodiversity monitoring scheme for Spain’s Sierra Nevada.

Particularly interesting, there is a fire preventive system that has been built in Greece within the framework of the TECH4ALL project by PROBOTEK and other organizations. The system integrates AI, drones, and 5G technologies for quick fire detection and emergency coordination.

Both Huawei and UNESCO put forward the Open School initiative in order to advance the equity and outreach of STEM education across the world.

As the Director of the Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe of UNESCO, Magdalena Landry noticed its effect:

“We seek to strengthen youth and educators, endorse gender equity and innovation through STEM”.

To advance the cause of digital inclusion, the DigiTruck project has taught basic await 6000 digital skills in 31 cities in France. Throughout, the success received recognition at the DigiTALL event of the evening, proving the commitment of TECH4ALL in closing the gap in the region.

In the future, Huawei wants to enhance its networks further across Europe, using technological advancements to deal with sustainability and inclusivity issues.
