TELUS Survey Reveals 81% of Americans Depend on AI-Powered Voice Tech

Vancouver, B.C.- October 8, 2024- Research carried out by TELUS Digital shows interesting results. The integration of AI with voice technology has become a key trend in America over 81 percent of Americans have a voice assistant which they interact with at least once a day or week.

Moreover, the trend also indicates that voice hyper-personalized enables and explains customers with voice technology to access customer service interactively instead of inquiries.

This trend would mean that 58 percent of the customer base would be inclined to this type of interaction although it is through a different brand.

According to the data, 68% of Voice Technology users increased their use within the last year, giving this evidence as an indication of a paradigm shift within the industry towards AI-powered interactions.

“For instance, in the next year, at least, every consumer app and website is likely going to have to include some form of AI-based voice,”

Renarked Tobias Dengel, the president of TELUS Digital Solutions.

There is a demand for natural, intuitive interactions and because of that, voice technology is one way to meet the requirements that the consumers are looking for.

In many cases, Michaels’s firm notes that voice technology grabs the attention of the customer because of its speed and efficiency. 35%, 31%, and 30% of respondents use the existing voice technology due to typing lag, and convenience of use of the tool respectively.

In the study by TELUS respondents about 69% of users stated that their first experience with voice technology was positive. An insignificant minority of 6% have an experience that hinders them from using the technology in the future.

Even though this growth has been already witnessed, there still lies some areas that can be further worked on. 53% of users for instance request higher precision while 46% call for a greater ability to understand different accents.

Customers demand efficiency and personalization in voice tech interactions and it is apparent that those who embrace advanced voice tech solutions first will benefit in the marketplace.

As voice tech continues to evolve, the market is believed to see an increase in the voice and the voice and AI multimodal interfaces, changing the interaction between consumers and technology.
